Frank Kozik is poster artist turned artist. I have a tumultuous history with Frank, to say the least, and I’ll say more in a book about my past… regardless, I respect Frank’s eye, his success, and even like some of his art. He’s outspoken and even seems to speak out honestly.
What is underground art?
no idea really….it used to be creative expression that could/did not garner notice in ‘the media’ or ‘popular public mindspace’….I would say tho that since the internet, there is no longer an ‘underground’ as even the most obscure or atavistic creative expression can easily reach the entire computer accessible world.
Are there rules or a set of ethics to the underground?
I suppose if there are, they would be self-imposed….
What is selling out?
I would say gaining and enjoying reward or status that is diametrirically opossed to the basic message of the work .
Can underground go above ground and still be underground?
Have you ever sold out?
Is it possible to steal an idea?
Your biggest artistic regret?
I have none.
Your biggest artistic inspiration?
the need to impose order and stability within my own environment.
What is dangerous art?
I would say work that influences people to harm innocents.
Bonus question… Nature or nurture?
combination of the two.
